Night in the Province is an extraordinary episode film that shows the two short films Cornetto in the grass and Frutti di Mare They share a common cinematic experience.
Although both films were created independently of each other, they tell of life in the Styrian province – of young people between departure and stagnation, of family, friendship, longing and the small miracles that often only become visible after dark. Due to their shared atmosphere, their fine humor and the gentle view of country life, the two stories complement each other in a very special way.
For the theatrical version, a new prologue and a connecting interlude were developed and shot. As a narrator, the award-winning actress Maria Hofstätter whose voice connects the two films into a poetic journey through the night and gives the work a new narrative level.
Thus, two independent short films resulted in a feature film that was specially designed for the cinema screen – a film about staying and going, about memories, legends and the silent magic of the night.
The cinema release is for Autumn 2026 planned. In addition: Night in the Province presented as part of an Austrian cinema tour.
